Sukanta Mahavidyalaya is a government-sponsored, NAAC-accredited higher education institution that began its operations on September 25, 1981. It is located in Sukanta Nagar, Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. This academic institution is one of the first higher education institutes in both North and West Bengal, serving the educational needs of students from the mysterious Dooars. Sukanta Mahavidyalaya, which is surrounded by beautiful green fields on the outskirts of Dooars, is also an epitome of attractiveness due to the panoramic view of the surrounding region, which comforts a heart weary of the city confined.

This institution, which covers 10 acres of land, provides undergraduate humanities and science (general and honours) courses in 14 subjects. This institution houses around 6000 students, the majority of whom are from the surrounding districts. While the institution follows the University of North Bengal's curriculum, the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been used in the college's undergraduate programmes starting in 2018.

Apart from ordinary undergraduate courses, this higher education institution oversees the teaching of postgraduate courses through distant education under the auspices of Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata's Directorate of Distance Education. Since 2004, it has been in existence at this institution. Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) has recently constructed a study centre at this college branch to provide remote education for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Six ICT-enabled classrooms and one virtual classroom are available at the institution. The college's students and employees have access to free Wi-Fi across the campus.

BBA Program (Self-financed).

Since 2006, the college has offered the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme, which is affiliated with the University of North Bengal. Presently, the course can accommodate 25 students (twenty-five). It is a three-year programme comprised of six semesters.

PG Course through Distance Learning

Rabindra Bharati University has a Postgraduate Study Centre within the College. It provides Master's degree programs in the following seven subjects:
